Job Descriptions
Master Teacher: Each Master Teacher prepares a lesson from the materials provided. The lesson should lead to discussions by the SGL. The Master Teacher must be a gifted teacher/speaker. The Master Teacher should spend time with the teens regularly in order to better relate. Time Requirements: Sunday mornings & Youth Worker Wing Dings
Prayer Partner: The Prayer Partner would pray regularly for students in the group by name. They should: pray for lost kids, specific prayer needs, the youth workers, the youth staff, and for youth events that are approaching. They should attend youth events whenever possible to get to know the youth. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule As much time as you can spend praying
Prayer Partner Coordinator: This person coordinates all the prayer partners and makes sure that they know all the prayer requests of the ministry. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule Various times to email other prayer partners of needs and as much time as you can spend praying
YouthQuake Helper: The YouthQuake helper attends on Wednesday nights and gets to know the students that attend. They help with registration for events. They help keep watch inside and outside the ROCK and in the Cave before, during and after and help with discipline when needed. They play with the kids and watch for witnessing opportunities. They should be available for the few kids who need rides home and make sure that students are not left alone when leaving. Time Requirements: Wednesdays As little as once a month for one hour on Wednesday nights and up to as much as 4 hours every week
Photographer: These people would attend as many events and take pictures of the kids as they participate. These events range from Sunday morning to youth camps. There is also a need for video footage. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
Event Driver: These people would be able to drive for the few events that we need a few extra spaces on youth trips. They also could be able to call up other drivers who might be new to our group and encourage them to participate. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
Holy Grounds @the Quarry Team Captain: Adults in these positions coordinate helpers to be at each Holy Grounds opening (once or twice a quarter). Each team has one team captain. The Security Team requires one or two to be outside keeping the peace. The Coffee Team captain needs to call and arrange people to make coffee, take money and buy supplies – 4 or more people. The Set-up Team makes sure everything is clean and in order before and after Holy Grounds. Ministry Team is available to answer questions about the Christian faith during Holy Grounds and be able to lead a teen to Christ. Photography Team takes pictures of the teens and whatever band/talent we have at the coffee house. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
The Quarry Helper: These people would attend Holy Grounds and help with the 100+ teens that attend. They help with the ongoing cleanup and get to know students. They assist the Quarry Captains. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
Parent Newsletter Publisher: This person would provide a newsletter that would keep all parents informed. It could be monthly or quarterly. It could include opportunities to serve and other helps for the parents. This is already an email newsletter but would hope to have a postal style also. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
Bible Fellowship Groups Records: These people will make sure everyone is recorded in Sunday School. They will make sure that we have an accurate count and have a record of every guest. They will make sure that SGL’s have a record of the guests in their group. Time Requirements: Sunday mornings and Youth Worker Wing Dings
Event Greeter: These people are just there to make sure the kids feel welcome. They should be at the doors for as many events as possible and greet the kids with a warm smile and greeting. This is a very simple, but important job! Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
Discipleship Leader: This person would lead a small group of students that have a desire for more Bible study through the week. They would be teaching the group and then keep them accountable as well as contact them during the week. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
New Christian Leader: As kids come to Jesus they will be placed under the direction of these leaders. They will lead the student in a four session Bible study to teach them what it means to be a Christian. This is a short term commitment that could be renewed regularly. They will need to provide a lot of encouragement and contact to make sure the student is table in their walk with God. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
Video Person: This person or group of people will use a video camera to capture the events that happen throughout the year. The church has one camera but if you have a camera, it would really help. Every event would need some footage. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
Cookie and Goodie Maker: These people would be available to make a batch of cookies or brownies, etc., for the youth events and help contact others to help with this vital activity. Events such as Holy Grounds, fellowships, rallies, etc. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
Mentor: This is for someone who is willing to pour some time into one kid that needs an adult to lead them to a closer walk with Jesus and teach them about life. This job requires a training course which will be taught twice a year. This needs a strong commitment by both teen and adult. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
Tutor Teens who need help: This is for someone with some time to give to help students improve their self-esteem through improving their school grades and ability to participate in class. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
Share Group Leader: This person cares for a group of up to 15 teens. This includes loving, listening, calling, writing and visiting. Each student should know who their SGL is. They should have a goal of making contact with 7 teens each week in some way involving 90 minutes TOTAL. This could include one visit (30 minutes), 3 phone calls (30 minutes) and 3 cards or emails (30 minutes). Each SGL should pray regularly for their teens. Every Sunday morning the SGL will be prepared to lead a discussion on application (not teach) on the Bible study that is taught by the Master Teacher. This person will be present a the monthly youth worker meetings. Time Requirements: Sundays and Youth Worker Wing Dings Weekly contact with students
New Youth Worker Recruiter: This person will help with the recruitment of other workers. They will always be looking for new, exciting, loving, fantastic people to work with out students. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
YouthQuake Greeter: This is for friendly adults who will be here to greet the students as they arrive and make them feel welcome. Time Requirements: Wednesday nights
Department Director: This is a ministry for someone who will regularly be in attendance to help give direction and make sure everything runs smoothly on Sunday mornings. This person ministers to the Share Group Leaders and helps the Youth Staff in evaluation. They help in equipping the SGL’s. The director is responsible for their SGL’s to be at the Youth Worker Wing Ding meetings. Time Requirements: Sundays and Youth Worker Wing Dings Weekly contact with Share Group Leaders
Breakfast Club Helper: These people would help drive on Monday mornings from ChickFilA to the senior high schools of McKinney. They would also join in prayer with the teens. Time requirements: Monday early mornings
Grands: These are Sr. Adults who love on our kids. If you are interested, you can contact Randy Morlan and he will help get you connected with our students! Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
DiscipleNow Host Home Recruiter: This person will recruit the host homes for our DiscipleNow weekend (November). We need at least 40 homes for the students. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
DiscipleNow Cooking Coordinator Recruiter: This person will recruit the cooking coordinators for our DiscipleNow weekend (November). We need at least 40 coordinators to provide food for homes. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
Outreach Director: This person will be asked to coordinate the visitation helpers. This person will communicate with the share group leaders. They will help organize a visitation program for the department. This includes visits and written correspondence. Time Requirements: Sundays and Youth Worker Wing Dings Weekly contact with guests
Host Home Provider: This person(s) will provide a place for speakers, bands, DiscipleNow leaders, etc., for an overnight stay at your home. They need to have the gift of hospitality. Time Requirements: DiscipleNow Weekend (November) (2 nights) Various other times
KickStart Home: This person(s) will provide a place for KickStart leaders and students for an overnight stay at your home. They need to have the gift of hospitality. Time Requirements: KickStart Weekend (August)
After School Prayer Club (ASPC) Helper: This person helps to coordinate the devotional and prayer time with our middle school students and helps in the Snack Bar with the light snack. Time Requirements: Monday afternoons during the school year (2:45 – 4:30)
Grant’s Yard Mower: This might not be the best job, but is one of utmost importance. This person would mow Grant’s yard every week and keep it looking great. It is not required, but would be a plus, if the yard won the little sign that says “yard of the month” at least once during the year. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
Youth Worker Volunteer Coordinator: This person will help with the coordination and recruitment of volunteers in the various needs of the youth ministry throughout the year. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
Snack Bar Helper: This position requires a little know-how in the kitchen. We sell snacks and drinks when the ROCK is open and many helpers are needed for this area. Any proceeds go to youth missions. You must complete the _________ training. Time Requirements: Flexible schedule
Youth Mission Trip Sponsor: The students take two mission trips per year. One (AWOL) is international and one (Trailblazer’s Adventure) is in the states. This person will participate in the trip and minister alongside the students. Time Requirements: Spring break (AWOL) and late July (Trailblazers)
Mission:McKinney Site Coordinator: One adult per home is required to lend support and discipline for the students that paint homes for needy families during the summer. Time Requirements: 3 days – early July
Xtreme Camp Sponsor: This adult would join us at Xtreme Camp in the summer. This fun few days is a great way to get to know the teens in our group and to grow personally closer to God. Great music and speakers and excitement is what is in store! This requires lots of energy by our adults but is highly rewarding! Time Requirements: 4 days in early summer
